18 is NOT A “Grown Man”, Taylor Swift

While “We Are Never Getting Back Together” is the catchiest song since “Call Me Maybe”, I take huge exception to this quote in Rolling Stone by Taylor Swift: “You can’t kidnap a grown man!” While this is a true, bordering on obvious cops statement, let me put that in context: She was talking about her 18 year old boyfriend, Conor Kennedy. 18. He’s 18 years old. That is in no way a grown man. Take this journey with me…

“What Is ACK Lax?” And Other Dad Gems

I talk about my mom all the time, so now, in honor of Father’s Day, I’ll talk about my Dad. He is the reason I’m Marilyn MonBRO, and has actually given me some of the best ideas I had when I worked at BroBible (and is featured in My Dad Is a Bro!) and continues to (unsolicited) throw these ideas at me. He’s also the dad who is on the sideline for every game, screaming his angry heart out for all of us. Doesn’t matter if it’s 100+ degrees in Maryland and he has already been burnt to a golf-shirt shaped crisp or 25 degrees at Hofstra Stadium in sleet and rain: he’s there. So here are some gems that I will never forget from the legend himself (with some assists from memorable fathers of pop culture)

Teacup Pig! Teacup Pig! That’s Some Pig!

Today on Jezebel, I saw the cutest thing ever. Forget about the hamster playing dead or keyboard cat (I’m kidding, Keyboard Cat is still number one) THIS PIG IS SO CUTE IT HURTS!

When You Work for the Internet

The internet is like Miami. It’s gorgeous and seductive and you think you want to spend all of your time there…then you see some dude high on LSD trying to eat another guy’s face and you think “You know what…maybe I’ll spend some time outdoors/with my family.” I work for this playground of distraction, and I have noticed some things about working for websites, blogs and tech startups. I share some of these things with you, to give you a look into the glamorous place that is ‘Internet’ and dispel some of the sweeping generalizations you may have made up in your head.

Dom Mazzetti vs. Study Abroad

Oh my. This is perfection. So amazing and spot on, I don’t even know where to begin. Dom and Gian take on Europe like bulls in a china shop. They talk disco naps, tour guides, space cakes, wifi passwords, losing debit cards, getting Vodafones stolen, the whole shebang. Perfection. AMAWESOME.

I’ve watched it like 4 times. I can’t stop. It’s perfect.

Blackhawks Fan Loses His Ish

Do I like the Blackhawks? Yeeeeeee-kind of. I like the players very much, and I like Chicago. But I have to stick with my boys in blue (Rangers, Baby, Rangers!) But I do very much like Toews (Taaaaaaaze), I like Keith (when he has all of his teeth), and I REALLY like the Patricks Sharp and KANE! Chi-town fans are some of the best in the biz, and this video below (of a Blackhawks fan losing their marbles over the goal that tied the game and sent them into OT against the Coyotes) shows that in the funniest way possible. Plus, my bestie’s boyfriend is their biggest fan, so I had to show her this video about 8 times to have her make sure this wasn’t him. Still not positive it’s not. WATCH IT!

The NY Rangers Sing ‘This Is How We Do It’. In Love.

Playoff season, birches! Spring has sprung, the ice is melting, and the New York Rangers are about to take on the Ottowa Senators in round one. They’ve been featured in ‘Marry Me’ this season, and I assume that is how they got this far (seeded at #1. It’s whatever.). Video below!

I Think A Little Bohemian Rhapsody, Gentlemen

My dad introduced us as children to Wayne’s World and Queen albums, so I imagine he’s actually pretty pumped that this wasn’t me or any of my siblings:

“Were You Listening to Call Me Maybe?”

This is real: today my mom texted me asking if I’d heard the song “Call Me Maybe”, since she’s decided it’s her “new Spring jam”. Friend of the site Pat filmed a sketch that basically nails exactly how everyone feels about this catchy song that has been stuck in everyone’s head for weeks. When I saw it, I had two thoughts.

1) Quite funny. His roommate’s over-touching stole the show in the best way.

2)

Watch Pat’s newest video after the jump!

STX is Winning London

I was lucky enough to be able to check out the newest gear from STX a couple of weeks ago, but was faced with a conundrum: how does a lax babe stranded over in merry olde England celebrate these new spring threads without her wand?
