Christmas Music Mania: “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”

As a girl of the 90’s, I was forced to choose sides on a number of issues. But there is no better barometer for what kind of person you are than the answer to this question: N’Sync or Backstreet Boys?

I was a generally staunch BSB supporter, but had a long crush on Lance Bass (…what do you want, I was like 10). That Bass crush led me to love this song. One of my favorite 90’s Christmas songs (more to come today and tomorrow!), without further ado, “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by N’Sync! Weee!

PS: Did you know that when they play this on the radio, they take out the “It’s a wonderful feeling! Feel the love in the room from the floor to the ceiling…” part?! What kind of amateur bullshit is that?

Music Mania: Call Your Girlfriend

Another song that’s on repeat! It’s rare that I’ll watch a music video (that isn’t Beyonce) the whole way through, but this one was amazing. Love Robyn (love her collaborations with French pop-tart Yelle as well) and love this song. Everyone knows someone who has been in the situation, and on the real, it’s both danceable and meaningful. And I say that ‘meaningful’ bit with authority, because I listen to a TON of danceable crap. (ALSO! Click ‘more’ to see the hilarious Taran Killam from SNL’s rendition of this video in the SNL writer’s room at 4:30 am. Gold.)

Music Mania: Looks Like Sex

This Mike Posner song “Looks Like Sex” from his newest mixtape, The Layover, has quickly become a staple song of the apartment. Ho, ho, ho indeed.
